FYI--Thursday, May 28 BOULDER Boulder Parks and Open Space Advisory will discuss a request to grow Roundup Ready Beets (a genetically engineered product) on Boulder County Open Space at 5:30 p.m. on the Third Floor of the County Courthouse at 1325 Pearl Street Mall. I would like to host a Pot-Luck Food Party (Indian theme because it is my favorite)...will the Foodies in the house let me know what day of the week works best,especially a week day eve vs. a weekend night. Me personally, I am great with Saturdays or Sundays. Thanks for the input in advance. Cheers!

Would a Sunday evening in the future work well for a Food Night? I know a lot of people feel frazzled before the start of the work week, but I also know there are always a lot of local events planned on Friday and Saturday eves, too. I cannot host large events, but would be happy to pull together about five people for a really off the wall, but small gathering--my first idea is to go with a POTATO theme because I love the darn things so much. I eventually want to gravitate towards ethnic themes, too.

When I worked at REI a few years ago, the idea developed to have a food night. Each month, an individual would volunteer to host a themed dinner...we had everything from Mediterranean to Jewish food nite (didn't have to be Jewish at all either). It is based on a theme for several reasons (predictable palatability...not everyone is crazy about Thai or Indian food, but boy golly, the ones who were sure did show up. Everyone is highly encouraged to bring a dish or work with someone else to create either a traditional or new dish. They were all successful evenings and I think it would great for the Foodies group to do similar events...and maybe a restaurant outing everyone once in awhile, but to restaurants that deserve the Boulder Beat Foodies presence...or something like that ; ) Does anyone have a favorite Food Network show by the way?

I second Jim's accolades for SoBo. Their new menu is much more wallet-friendly, and yet the quality is top notch. How about a happy hour get together at SoBo's?
