Here's a link to a cool article, it's about some of the best internet hoaxes.

The only hoaxer things that really stuck out in my mind and made me laugh were the flash mobs.

Linked here if you never heard of it:
Click here for flash mob info

For instance... getting a hundred people to go into a particular book store and ask for the same book (preferably one that doesn't exist to make it funnier) and then after a few min of a mob asking for a book.. they all go *poof* and disappear:)

That stuff is funny.
I used to love reading up on the various flash mobs.
Always wanted to be a part of it.

Alas.. the only large event I participated in was one of Spencer Tunic's photo shoots. I love his work.

We should try a simple email prank and see how much exposure we can get.. something simple will work. Brainstorming here but something like:

'Shark attack in Boulder', 'Strange lights over the flatirons', 'Mutant cow spotted on government testing grounds', 'Radioactive worms dug up at Rocky Flats'.. etc

Of course a nice photoshopped picture will always help. The tough part would be getting it fed into the mainstream public.. we can make some Gmail accounts and use craigslist and sites like that but are there any other good sources of local email addresses out there?

I do like harmless hoaxes, unfortunately all the ones that I think up are quite a bit of effort, are offensive, or are illegal.

I'm a true skeptic, naturally an atheist, but not as far as to buy into things like Loose Change (the 9/11 conspiracy film.) However, I do love those sorts of things because while they often draw bad conclusions, they are interesting and get you thinking.

Nice Sign! Some people might have different definitions but to me woo is the more hokey stuff like healing energy, astral projection, astrology, etc.. Where it gets evil is when these people take money from people who can't afford it or convince people to ignore good medical advice for bad stuff. There's a pretty good site about this kind of stuff, kind of sad really:

Purely out of curiosity, what is the woo? I consider myself a cynic, skeptic, and stoic, but really have no formal affiliation with or education in any of these, so maybe I am missing something.

This might be a fun place to scheme up some fun pranks too.. a really simple and easy one is just waving to random people all day to see if they wave back and maybe keeping track of the kind of people who do etc. I was also thinking of stuff like tying a glow stick to a RC helicopter and flying it around a local mystical spot :P
