The Hotel Boulderado is having an Anti-Valentine's day party, complete with food, drinks, dancing, and Funkiphino! The cover charge is $10, and they are running room specials also if you want to stay over. Should be a blast!
Happy Hour runs 4-6:30 p.m. Bacaro features $3 house wines, champagne, drafts, sangria, lemoncello; $6 double wells; $5 top-shelf martinis; $2 off cicchetti, $5 pizzas.
Please RSVP, since it is likely that Friday Happy Hour will be very busy!
So why wouldn't an apparently athletic person like yourself not be interested in such a class? The two present signups are women, as is my co-instructor. Really, what I teach is "dancing on the river."
Mine has been that, with a class of women on the river, before I can say, "That was a great eddy turn, Phillis," four other (student) voices are cheering her.
With a class of men, when I say, "That was a great eddy turn,Phil," Charlie is on the other shore examining his fingernails and saying to himself, "I could have done it better."
Got two women sign-ups and a woman co-instructor. I love teaching women's classes because women are generally mutually reinforcing. Guys tend more competitive. ("Oh, I could have done that better than he did.") Women tend to cheer each other on. Makes it easier for the instructors.
Missed you at last Friday's Happy Hour gathering... or did I leave before you arrived? by the way, I'm teaching a beginning whitewater kayak class starting the first week in August. Do you know anyone who might be interested?
Hmm. I should also mention Connor Oneal's on 13th and walnut for best date atmosphere, and 13th St bar, bacaro, and seven/tahona for dancing. Music on fridays at millenium hotel and St. Julian's in the summer...
For food, try Sushi Zanmai at broadway and spruce/pine??? on sundays... for the happy hour I believe they have 20% off on Sundays, on top of happy hour... then karaoke later:) The fried ice cream is a delicious dessert, and get the firecracker aoli sauce to dip your rolls in. I also like the Mediteranian next to St. Julian's for the roasted garlic and spicy pizza... the tuna is pretty good too. Try Lucille's on 13th and pine for a sweet southern breakfast, usually 1/2 hr. wait on weekends, the golden buff on canyon and 28th in good, and the Walnut Cafe on 30th and Walnut??? is also really good for breakfast:) Just a little advise for a foodie. Also, my favorite happy hour in town is the Boulder Cafe at 13th and Pearl before 6 outside, and until 7 at the bar, tapas and drinks are half off, the wings and pearls street platter are great:) Cheapest drinks in twon are the catacombs 13th and pine/spruce?? (under the Boulderado) Sun-Thurs, The latest Last call is the Pearl Street Pub on the westerly most block of pearl (200am)... also next to cab stand:)
Human services is pretty much Social Services, just a bit broader. I work with people who have a disability, mostly brain injuries and physical disabilities, to help them live independently in the community. It's pretty much the last step of rehabilitation.
